Practice Makes Perfect
It's no accident that professional sales people practice their "pitch" in front of a mirror and on their family or colleagues before ever hitting the road. Your volunteers are not professional sales people, but they can
- Gain confidence by practicing on each other. too. Make sure everyone knows as much as possible about the products they are selling and the cause they are representing.
- Outline the key points they need to make. The age group of your team will dictate how much detail to use here, but remember, everyone retains more information when they receive it in several ways.
- Written notes and hearing a sample pitch will help all remember.
Sell Yourselves First
While you have the team together, take each others orders. That way,
• everyone becomes familiar with the forms
• you discover who may need some extra help
• team members can brag about what all they have ordered to their prospective customers
You know what they say about a bird in the hand.
Take advantage of time together.
